OVERCOMING STRONGHOLD OF PRIDE

Text: Proverbs 8:13 says “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”

PRIDE is taking the glory that belong to God alone. The world PRIDE looks simple but it is a route to self destructions. Pride makes us self centred and lead us to conclude we deserve all we can see, touch or imagine. It creates greedy appetite for more than we need.

Proverbs 16:18 says “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
Prideful people take little account of their weakness and do not anticipate stumbling blocks. Ironically, proud people seldom realize their pride is their problem. Pride is the opposite of humility.

Pride has kept many people away from accepting JESUS CHRIST as SAVIOUR. Admitting sin and acknowledging the fact that in our own strength we can do nothing to inherit eternal life, is a constant stumbling block to the proud.

WHY IS PRIDE A SIN?
1. It takes the place of God in ones life. You assume your success is by your own efforts.
2. It compete with the glory of God.
3. It hinders one from seeing things from God’s will.
4. It makes one an enemy of God.
5. It makes one arrogant.
6. Pride is flesh.

We must know that our success, goals, wealth, experiences etc would not have been possible if not for the grace of God.

THE LORD IS GOOD.

Some of us pride in our material possessions, wealth, estate, cars, spouse, educational qualifications etc. In Matthew 19:16–23, a rich man asked Jesus what he would do to inherit eternal life and Jesus answered him, “go and sell your possessions, give to the poor and follow Him.” Upon hearing that he became sad and went away in sorrow because he had great possessions. Money represented his pride. He couldn’t afford to let go of it not even for Jesus sake.

PRAISE THE LORD

WORDS OF A PROUD MAN
1. Do you know who I am.
2. Who do you think that you are.
3. Don’t try me.
4. I will deal with you.
5. I am better than you.
6. You are not my class
7. Over my dead body.
8. I can’t take it..
9. I can never beg you.
10. By the time I finish with you.

Prideful people talk and act like they are gods.
They see themselves as better than others and like to ascribe glory to themselves. A Prideful person will say I did it, it is my effort. While a humble person will say, God did it for me. I give God the glory. Etc. Pride likes to show off. He wants you to notice his new car, new house, new wrist watch, new dress etc. It is important we know that power, wisdom, success and achievement comes from God.

PRIDEFUL ERRORS
1. Unbelief: In Mark 6: 3–7 Jesus could have done many miracles in Nazareth but He chose not to because of the people’s pride and Unbelief.
2. Arrogance: In Genesis 4:3–9 When God asked Cain about Abel his brother. Pride and arrogance made Cain to question God by answering Him, am I my brother’s keeper? The pride in him blinded his eyes to the killing of his brother, Abel.
3. Pride goes before a fall: In Genesis 3:10–11. Adam taught he could execuse himself from the punishment of the sin he committed with Eve by telling God the woman who thou gavest to be with me gave me of the tree and I did eat”. Justification is one of the signs of pride.

If you humble yourself before God, He will definitely lift you up but if we exalt ourselves demotion becomes our lot. We must prayerfully guide against it.

EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE PRIDE BROUGHT DOWN

1. Lucifer who was the number one angel in heaven was demoted because of pride, to Satan the devil.
2. Pride exited Queen Vashti in the book of Esther out of her reputable throne of honour, and humility paved way for Esther to be crowned as a queen.
3. Pride almost cost Namaan the opportunity of being healed of leprosy. 2 King’s 5: 10–14
4. Herod couldn’t stand the fact that Jesus would be a king. Out of pride and rage he ordered for the massacre of children from two years below.
5. King Saul lost his throne because of pride and disobedience.
6. Pride demoted King Nebuchadnezzar to an animal wandering in the Bush for seven years.
7. Pride made the pharisees to kill Jesus. They could not stand Jesus fame and popularity.
8. The pride in John the baptist led to his Unbelief and questioning of Jesus works.

CONSEQUENCES OF PRIDE
1. It brings demotion
2. Pride hates correction
3. Inferiority complex
4. It is rebellious
5. Disobedient
6. It causes destruction.
7. It causes rivalry.
8. Snobbish by nature.

To overcome pride, we must be humble and down to earth. We must believe that whatever we have and is today, is by the grace of God and not by our own efforts.

MAY GOD GIVE US THE POWER TO OVERCOME PRIDE IN OUR LIVES IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.

GOD THAT ANSWERETH BY FIRE.

The Bible says in 1 Kings chapter 18:24
*”And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God.”*

Praise the Lord!

Elijah’s victorious contest with the prophets of baal proved that we serve a God that answereth by fire.

Elijah challenged the children of Israel to take a stand, meaning they should follow the true God. And they chose baal, Instead.
During the context all the efforts of baal’s prophets to make baal answer them from morning to evening proved abortive. WHY?
Because their god was a man made god, which cannot save nor deliver.

The question today is: What God are you serving? Baal or the Almighty God?

The God that answereth by fire is a Man of War; no battle is too small or big for Him to fight. He has never lost a battle. He is always willing to answer you by fire if only you can follow His leading.

The god you may be tempted to follow may not be the same as idols of woods or stones of the prophets of Baal but the idols of materialism, worldliness etc, which are just as false and dangerous as Baal, because they cause you to depend on something other than the real God.

In times of trouble there will disappoint you because they neither see nor hear. They can’t offer genuine answers or guidance.

The Bible says in 1 Kings 18:36—38
“And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice that Elijah the prophet came near and said Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou are God in Israel and that I am thy servant and that I have done all these things at thy word.
Verse 37 Hear me O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
Verse 38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench”

God manifested as a God that answereth by fire in this contest between the prophets of baal and Elijah. The powerful move of God made the same people who declared allegiance to baal, to declare, “The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.”

*” I PROPHECY THAT JUST AS GOD ANSWERED ELIJAH BY FIRE FROM HEAVEN, SO ALSO WILL HE SHOW UP AS A CONSUMING FIRE TO SET ABLAZE OUR ENEMIES IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.

Don’t be afraid of obstacles, barriers, and enemies around you.
Don’t be afraid of spiritual or physical wars raging like fire against you, either from your work place, family or neighborhood. Be rest assured that God will cause all the enemies that rises up against you to be smitten before your face in Jesus name.

Just as Elijah called on God through prayer and He showed up for him, open your mouth in prayers, call upon Him, and He will show up for you.

The Bible says in Exodus 14:14, *”The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”*

He fought for the Jews in Persian land under King Ahasuerus in the book of Esther, causing Haman to be hung upon the gallows. He elevated Mordecai and gave victory to the Jews in the battle already programmed to eliminate them.

No matter the battle against you, *I PROPHECY THAT VICTORY IS SURELY COMING YOUR WAY IN JESUS NAME*

In the book of Daniel chapter 3, God arose as the fourth man in the fire, in the fiery furnace heated seven times by King Nebuchadnezzar to consume three Jewish faithful priests. And He delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace set up to roast them alive because of their stand for Jesus. What God cannot do does not exist.

If God be for us, who can be against us? Nobody.

The power available to us is the same that delivered Shedrack, Meshach, and Abednego. And same power raised Christ from the dead (Ephesians 1:18-20).
Trust God in the face of every trial. Don’t faint, don’t murmur, or draw back from calling on God.

Hebrews 12:29 declares, *”For our God is a consuming fire”* Meaning that all things (problems, difficulties, trials and health issues) are consumable in the sight of God.
*Today, that consuming fire will consume all our problems in Jesus name*
Equally in Deuteronomy 4:24, the Bible says *”He is a consuming fire and a jealous God”* Meaning God cannot share us with any god or idol. We must declare our allegiance to Him and be committed to serving Him alone so that He can always answer us by fire.

*For God to answer you by fire:*
1) You must be born again (Romans 10:10).
2) You must draw near to Him in spirit and in truth. Jn 4:23/24.
3) You must have relationship with Him through his word. 2 Tim 2:15. Joshua 1:8 – Many Christians want miracles but are not willing to have a relationship with the Miracle Worker–God.
4) Have faith in God MK 11:22 – like the three Hebrew men.
5) Be prayerful. I Thess 5:17.

In conclusion, what areas do you want God to manifest in your life as God that answereth by fire?
Is it in your family, marriage, education, health etc?
Talk to Him now!

*Prayer Points:*

1) Pray for the Lord to arise as the Man of War, fight for you, and grant you victory over your enemies.

B) Pray for God’s right hand, that is glorious in power, to dash in pieces every spiritual and physical wars, battles and conspiracies going on against you.

C) Dash into pieces high-level conspiracies, evil meetings, and gatherings from the pit of hell against you, your family, and the works of your hands.

D) Dash into pieces every family strongman, strongwoman, household enemies, that have sworn you won’t arise and shine.

E) Break into pieces spiritual blockages, barriers, roadblocks, entanglements, padlocks, chains, charms, keys, and cages hindering your progress.

F) Break into pieces demonic altars, shrines, idols, deities, agents, priests, diviners, covens, and cauldrons, demonic powers attacking your blessings, and testimonies.
Exodus 15:3/6. Exo 14:14.

2) Release the consuming fire of God to set ablaze every demonic kingdom, altars, shrines and idols, deities and gods, agents, priests and diviners, covens, and cauldrons, and powers waging war against your ascension to greatness and blessings.

B) Set ablaze custodians and patronizers of evil oracles, spiritualists, herbalists, false prophets etc who have sworn you will not make it in life. Isaiah 29:6

3) Pray and decree victory over your life, this month, and this year.

B):Decree speedy manifestation of your heart desires.

C) Decree dumbfounding favour in all your endeavours this month.

D) Decree that the grace of God will prevail over your life and family.

E) Decree that you will always be preferred over your enemies.

F) Decree that the Lord will showcase Himself as the Man of War over your life, family, business and destiny in Jesus name, Amen.

DISMANTLING NEGATIVE FORCES OF WORRY AND ANXIETY

Text: John chapter 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled: Ye believe in God, believe also in me”
THE LORD IS GOOD

– What is worry?
– worry is the disturbance of the peace of the mind or the affliction of ones mind with mental agitation or distress.
– It is the yoke of oppression that gives one mental anxiety.

– What is anxiety?
– Anxiety is an unpleasant state of mental uneasiness, apprehension, obsession or concern about some uncertain event.
It is a state of restlessness and agitation, often accompanied by distressing sense of oppression in ones mind and body.
THE LORD IS GOOD

Worry is probably the most common and destructive force that Christians today must learn to overcome.

Worry is a Spiritual force of oppression that destroys one’s faith. It stunts our Spiritual growth if not dealt with.

It distort our Spiritual Vision and causes mental unbalance in one, thereby making one to be restless.
Yet most Christians do not realize just how destructive worry and anxiety can be.

It is time we know that worry does not pay.
It is not a plus for one to dwell in the realm of worry and anxiety, because it is detrimental to our health in general.
It is high time we understand the danger worry and anxiety does to our health and how it affect our faith in God negatively.

I PROPHECY THAT WORRY & ANXIETY WILL NOT KEEP US IN BONDAGE OF HEALTH COMPLICATION IN JESUS NAME.

– Worry is faith in reverse. It cause us to doubt and become fearful. It cause us to take our eyes off Jesus and keep them on our problems.

Worry hinders one from releasing his faith.
-Worry is a spiritual robber. If not overcome, it can steal the joy of ones salvation. Making one feel he/she is wasting time professing Christ.

In this state of mind, you will begin to ask “why me? or why is this happening to me?
many questions born out of worry and anxiety will begin to manipulate your mind.

If not controlled, worry can cage one in bondage of fear.

Today, we are going to say no to the strong of worry and anxiety because the Scriptures declares in 2 Timothy chapter 1:7 “For God hath not given us the Spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind’
PRAISE THE LORD.

-Someone who has a sound mind need not to be worried about anything.

Is the worry about your children school fees, house rent, Job, medical bill, or maybe other miscellaneous bills?
whatever the problem is, it is not bigger than our God.
Why not tell God about it and allow him carry the load for you?

In 1 peter chapter 5:7 the Bible says “Casting all your cares upon him, for he careth for you”.

Jesus asked us to pull down that garment/load of worry at his feet.
We must understand that God does not come late neither does he come before his time.
Therefore no amount of worry about children, marriage, money, loss of job, health challenges etc, can move the hand of God to change our situation before the time appointed.
THE LORD IS GOOD

Matthew chapter 6:25-27 says “Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Vs 26 “Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Vs 27 which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
PRAISE THE LORD

In the passage we just read, Jesus commands us to put aside worry. He wants us to see that our heavenly father has provided all our needs .
Our Father knows our needs even before we ask, so there is no reason to worry.

If I may ask, what profit does worry brings to us?
My answer is nothing but anxiety, high blood pressure and sicknesses. If we know that worry does not really pay why do we indulge in it?

One might be tempted to answer or say, as humans when adversity comes, one cannot help but worry about it.
But let us not equally forget that God has the answer to worry in Psalms chapter 55:22 which says “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
PRAISE THE LORD

When it seems like you are going to be overwhelmed by life challenges, cast the burden upon God. He says “Come unto me all ye that Labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”
He will be delighted to carry the load for us.
When you are going through pains and it seems no one understands, tell it to God. Don’t go fighting anyone or carrying the problem on your face.
Otherwise, worry and anxiety can control your minds until you are unable to lay hold of your promise in God’s word concerning your circumstances.

Worry allows what we hear, see and feel to rule us instead of walking by faith, which pleases God. In return He releases his power to work on our behalf.

I PROPHECY THAT GOD WILL DELIVER YOU FROM EVERY YOKE OF WORRY IN JESUS NAME.

God wants us to recognize that worry is a sin, and wants us to repent from it. Let us not forget that God has promised to supply all our needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus.

Let us stop worrying over that problem and allow the master, the load carrier to help us carry the load IN JESUS NAME. AMEN.

PRAISE THE LORD.
